Carer’s Allowance

Carers Allowance is a payment available through Centrelink for the parents or carers of a child under the age of 16 year, who is considered to have a disability or severe medical condition and is cared for at home. Both the carer and the child must be Australian residents and reside together in the same home. Carers allowance is not means tested.

To Apply!

You will need to contact Centrelink and fill out the carer’s portion of the form. There is also a medical report that will need to be filled out by one of the clinicians at our clinic; Speech Pathologist, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist. The form can alternatively be filled out by your GP, specialist or Paediatrician.

Carer’s Allowance Payment

Carer’s who are found eligible for carers Allowance can receive up to a maximum of $110.00 per fortnight per child as of January 2012.
