FaCHSIA & Better Start Funding

FaCHSIA and Better Start are funding schemes allocated by the Federal Government for children aged 0-7 years whom have one of the following diagnosises:

  • Autism
  • Pervasive Developmental Disorder
  • Sight Impairment
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Deafblindness
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Down Syndrome
  • Fragile X Syndrome
  • Prada Willi Syndrome
  • Williams Syndrome
  • Angleman Syndrome
  • Kabuki Syndrome
  • Smith-Magenis Syndrome
  • CHARGE Syndrome
  • Cri Du Chat Syndrome
  • Microcphaly

Children must have been diagnosed prior to their 6th birthday. Eligible children can access up to a maximum of $12,000 ($6,000 per financial year) for early intervention services.

Using FaCHSIA at Macarthur CDC

Macarthur CDC is a registered panel provider with FaCHSIA and Better Start. All services provided can be paid for via your FaCHSIA or Better Start funding to a maximum of $6000 per financial year. Once this limit has been reached, you will need to start paying for services as usual. At Macarthur CDC, FaCHSIA and Better Start can be used for individual sessions including; Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Psychology, or it may be used for our multidisciplinary services, group programs, home programs, school programs and school readiness groups.

To Apply for FaCHSIA or Better Start Funding

Your child will have needed to either have received a diagnosis from our developmental team or from your paediatrician. You will need to fill out the application form (see our reception) and send this to;

Better Start Funding

You will need to attach all relevant documentation along with your letter of diagnosis. Once approved, you will need to bring your letter of approval to our office. Once this has been received, your FaCHSIA or Better Start account can then be billed and you will not be out of pocket until the total amount of $6,000 has been reached.

Please Note: Your funding can not pay for any missed or cancelled appointments. Macarthur CDC cancellation policy will remain in place.
